True Life: I'm a general blogger

I think of myself as a general blogger (but in a much more exciting way) because I talk about a lot of different things. I like to bake (but I do cook as well!) and post a lot of recipes. My husband and I got married a little over a year and a half ago, on January 2, 2010, and bought a house a year ago, so many of my posts are related to things we're doing around the house, as well.

I also struggle with depression and write about that frequently (in a non-depressing sort of way!)
I have a degree in library science, but I'm not working as a librarian at the moment. Instead, to at least feel like I'm using my degree, I write the occasional book reviews. The books I read are mostly young adult, but you may find an adult book thrown in there occasionally.

Just to change things up, I also have an Etsy shop! It's mostly there to support my hobby of liking to make jewelry.

Instruments I play (or have played): I used to play the clarinet and tenor sax, but it's been so long that I don't think I could do it now! And I took piano lessons for a while but I was really bad at practicing.

Time you wake up: The alarm goes off at the ungodly hour of 5:15, but I don't usually get up until 5:30 or 5:40. Sometimes 5:50. I have a hard time getting up.

Underwear: Um, sometimes, when I'm wearing a skirt, I go commando. Don't judge me!

Vegetables you dislike: Beets, turnips, collards, kale, cabbage, onions...I'm sure there are more. I'm kinda veggie picky.

What makes you run late: Usually oversleeping.

X-rays you’ve had done: Mostly teeth, and my leg, once. I think that's it.


Yummy food you make: My favorite is my skillet macaroni and cheese!

Zoo animal: I love love LOVE all big cats. They fascinate me. I also really enjoy the penguins, giraffes and meerkats!

Getting to know you!

Life has been so busy and crazy around here lately that I haven't had the time or the inclination to blog. Partially just the craziness of life, partially because I'm so darn tired all the time all of a sudden!
When I saw this on my Google Reader I thought it would be a great way to post without having to think about what to talk about!

1. If you had to choose a country to live in besides USA (or the country you live in), which would it be?
I have always ALWAYS (since second grade) wanted to visit Australia, so I think I'd like to live there. But I have to say, it would be very hard for me to be half a world away from any family...unless I could take them all with me!

2. Which would be worse, wearing flip flops in the snow or wearing gloves in the summer?
Gloves in the summer. For some reason I don't mind being cold, but I absolutely hate being hot. I feel so much dirtier when I'm hot than when I'm cold!


3. Fried or Bake and why?
Fried tastes so good!! But when I'm cooking it's always baked.

4. If you were an entertainment reporter, which celeb would you love to interview and why?
Harrison Ford. I just love the guy.

5. What was your favorite book as a preteen/teenager?
Say Goodnight Gracie. I have read and reread that book so many times.

6. List your top 3 guilty pleasure television shows.
I didn't know I was pregnant, 19 Kids and Counting and Hoarders.

7. What bumper sticker slogan best describes you/your attitude/your life?
You know...I have no idea.

8. If you were to join a circus - what performer would you be?
The trick horse rider. I LOVE riding horses, always have, but I can't afford the lessons!
